LOVE ALL SERVE ALL is the second studio album by Japanese singer-songwriter Fujii Kaze. It was released on March 23, 2022, through HEHN RECORDS and Universal Sigma.[1] The album was produced by Yaffle, with all eleven songs written and composed by Fujii Kaze.[2] In the week of its release, it debuted at number one on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart — Fujii Kaze's first chart-topping album[3] — and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).[4]

Background

LOVE ALL SERVE ALL arrived roughly two years after Fujii Kaze's debut album HELP EVER HURT NEVER (May 2020).[2] Six digital singles released between October 2020 and March 2022 preceded the album and were included on its final 11-track sequence alongside five previously unreleased songs.[1]

In an interview with MUSICA magazine, Fujii described the intent behind the album's title:[5]

I think it would be best if all humans and every living being could live with the "LOVE ALL SERVE ALL" mindset. I want to be able to look at joys and sorrows, and things like life and death, all equally, and to love them all equally. There are many "LOVE ALL SERVE ALLs", and I hope all of them are conveyed.

The phrase "LOVE ALL SERVE ALL" is drawn from the teachings of the Indian spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba, whom Fujii Kaze has cited as an influence (see LOVE ALL SERVE ALL (meaning)).

Critical reception

The album was well received by listeners, with a substantial number of positive user reviews on Album of the Year.[9] The music blog randomjpop wrote that "Kaze [has] a very clear sense of how he wanted this album to sound, how he wanted to package himself, and the type of pop star he wants to be seen as".[10]

Tour

To promote the album, Fujii Kaze held Fujii Kaze LOVE ALL SERVE ALL STADIUM LIVE on October 15–16, 2022, at Panasonic Stadium Suita in Osaka.[11] It was the first-ever music concert at the venue and drew approximately 70,000 attendees over two nights, against around 600,000 ticket applications.[11] Smartphone photography and recording were exceptionally permitted only during "grace", at Fujii's request after observing audience-filming culture at Coachella.[11]

The concert was released on Blu-ray as Fujii Kaze LOVE ALL SERVE ALL STADIUM LIVE on July 12, 2023, as a two-disc set.[11]
